The Convention Industry Council launched the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)® programme in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession, and advance uniform standards of practice. Today, the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition, and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and a rigorous exam. The CMP exam was developed and is maintained by meeting professionals from all over the world who volunteer their time to ensure that the programme reflects the best practices in the meeting management field.

Meeting professionals, both planners and suppliers pursuing the CMP designation.
PREREQUISITES
Meeting Professionals with either one below:
36 total months of full-time work experience in the meeting, event, exhibition, hospitality and tourism industry within the past five years.
Applicants with an associate degree (or higher) in hospitality/tourism/events management field may apply after two years of work experience provided both were accomplished in the past five years.
Full-time instructors who have taught for three years in a meeting/hospitality university program
and
25 clock hours of continuing education within the last 5 years.
