OVERVIEW

In this ever-changing landscape, businesses need to keep themselves abreast of the latest issues and trends so as to respond to the them in a timely manner. Thus, the role of conferences is to bring together the industry players to address the trending issues. A well-run conference serves to facilitate knowledge exchange and encourage activism to propel the industry forward. Through a series of lectures and case studies, participants will be equipped with the essential skills to execute a seamless conference.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

Introduce participants to the basic concepts in organizing conferences by differentiating the key elements between corporate and association meetings through practical applications of the concepts
Impart knowledge to ensure that participants working in supporting fields have a holistic view of the industry to understand the impact of the support provided in organizing a successful conference

Speakers

Chandran Nair

Chandran graduated in Economics and Political Science from the University of Singapore;
Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing, UK; and a teaching certification from the
National Institute of Education, Singapore.

Mr. Chandran Nair began his career with the Port of Singapore Authority in 1980 as a
Commercial Officer and moved on to be the Manager (Business Development) at World Trade
Centre, Singapore.

He progressed on to be the General Manager (Venues) with the responsibility of managing
Singapore Expo and providing overseas consultancy projects in venue management; and
subsequently General Manager (Exhibitions) with the responsibility of organising trade
exhibitions.

He subsequently held the position of General Manager (Corporate) of SingEx Holdings, until his
retirement in September 2021. (Note: SingEx Holdings is a fully owned subsidiary of Temasek
Holdings. With the merger of SingEx Holdings and Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) Sphere
Exhibits in February 2021, the company was re-named, “Constellar.”)

Chandran was a Nominee Director of three companies under the Group ie. Constellar
Exhibitions Pte Ltd, Constellar Venues Pte Ltd, and Constellar Exhibition Ventures Pte Ltd from
June 2013 to July 2021. Chandran is currently engaged by Tricor Singapore Pte Ltd, and
Boardroom Corporate & Advisory Services Pte Ltd to serve as a nominee director in several
companies.

Chandran is also an adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic, ITE; and lectures with SACEOS.
Chandran had served as a Committee Member of the “Trade Fairs & Trade Mart” Committee of
the World Trade Centre Association, USA; member of the Education committee of UFI (Global
Association of the Exhibition Industry). He had also served on the Executive Committee of
SACEOS as its Vice President (Education).

In the area of welfare activities, Chandran served as the Vice President of SNM Nursing Home
and Meranti Home; and has been an active volunteer at the Dover Park Hospice. He is also a
Director of SMA Care Ltd.
